Coast to Coast
i found two 74 yamaha dt175 enduros. one runs good with a title and one needs a tad bit of work. the guy wants $450 for the pair. im thinking if i have a good day of tattooing tomorrow and thursday i may give this guy a call. i really want a bobber or even a clean simple bratstyle-style bike. what do you guys think?

i showed a tattoo client of mine pics of my cafe racer, and he fell in love. i showed him these dt175's and since one is running and good and the other needs work, i told him id pay $300 for the running one, and he'd pay $150 for the non running, and me and him would get it working, and id build him a cafe seat and cut off frame and redo the tank and everything so he'd have a little cafe 2 stroke.

and i'd either bob the other one or cafe it. hopefully the guy calls me back!

A friend of mine is Bobbin a Yamaha 360 Enduro right now, hardtailed it, thing looks wicked...I say do it.

if youre gonna do it hardtail it and have motofiacco make you some evil looking stainless chambers for it.

+1
I'd love to see Chris do some chambers, brushed stainless FTW!!!

Anything can be bob'd and look good with the right amount of time and thought. eg. We're doing a CB900 custom right now for a friend. The end result is going to be gorgeous...it's not a bike I'd normally see bob'd but after some patience we've come up with a sweet frame design and seat setup that will compliment the rest of the bike. Best part, it's looks factory..

You just have to put your mind to it full force. I'd recommend working with paper first.. That bike has a huge amount of potential in my mind. Hard-tail, 3 - 4" stretch. 16" front with a fat tire.... Mmmmm....

Grab a bottle of bourbon and a coffee mug. Sit in the front of the bike at a desk and follow this process:

1) Stare

2) Sip

3) Sketch

4) Refill

I guarantee you after a few nights of this you'll have some great ideas of where to head and will spend a lot less time re-working parts of the project.

+1 on one of Chris's Exhaust.

Nice job on the shafty hard tail, nice nad clean but the front end leaves a little to be desired for *my tastes*......I'm sure the end user is or will be thrilled. Anytime I see a bike with a rake&stretch I can only think of OCC.....and that's almost physically painful.

My thoughts exactly!

Nah, that CB looks good.
IMHO if it had a 300+ rear and a skinny 21 on the front with a bunch of gaudy tack on billet garbage and another 5-10* of rake...plus the prerequsit gay paint, then I'd say its too OCC. As it sits its a nice piece that could be ridden.

Forgive me i dont mean to be rude, but whats the point!! 175 two stroke will be gutless, very very small, slow and cost as much to modify as a bigger bike :-\ just leave it alone and ride it and enjoy. Save up and get somthing worth while to modify just my thoughts no bad vibes.
:-*

Well, to each his one. My response isn't so much to the components as for the....stature I guess. I just don't like raked out flexi-flyer front ends. I know lots of people get moist for'em though so more power to ya!
