Yamaha TW200.. the swamp donkey

Ha, hadn;t seen this yet, caught up and ready for more LOL. Check out the Japanese market, they make all kinds of hop up shit for the TW

As stupid as this sounds ...I pulled a dent with hot glue and a tea bottle. Yup...a cheap version of pops a dent. It isn't perfect, but if I want to bond or tin it it's better. Thought I'd share it with you all lol

This is awesome. I'm planning on stripping it, pulling dents, then mudding it again. Just hopefully not as much mud this time

Got the sub frame and seat mounts pretty well wrapped up, and made up a mount to use my old dr650 front fender out back. It actually fits surprisingly well, even if it looks stupid with the seat off. I will likely make up some aluminum side covers as well which will cover up the lower part of the fender.

The more I look at it, I'm kinda kicking around the idea of trying to find another tw200 lump to stick back in it. The predator would work, but really looks goofy. We shall see.

I was kinda hoping for this, or maybe an XR/XL motor or something. I know there is the CS issue with the fat tires, but I figure machining up an offset to weld to a sprocket or something might work just as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to an xr/xl lump if I could find one cheap enough that doesn't need a bunch. Yamaha blaster motor has caught my eye too, if only because kiley hates two strokes lol

I was about to suggest a blaster engine
Like jimmer’s little black blaster bike

I grew up riding a Yamaha blaster, they really are good little motors. I sure tried with no avail to destroy mine. Well actually I did grenade 3rd gear. Wish I had kept the lump around

I had made up some quick alloy spacers for the front tank mounts just to get it in place, but wanted to use rubber ones for the finished design. Surprisingly, no-one makes off the shelf mounts to adapt an atc tank to a tw200 ;)

I found these "boat plugs" at the local Menards, and the o.d. and length of the rubber part turned out to be exactly right (score), just had to drill out the middle a bit, and Walla.

Also turned and welded in a threaded 10mm bung to mount the back, using rubber/ fabric washers top and bottom.

I spent the other part of the day going backwards on the project. When I was planning on putting in the predator engine, I cut a chunk of the down tube out to clear. Now that I'm putting a stock motor back in, I had to put it back. Glad my buddy hadn't hauled off scrap yet haha

I turned a slug on the lathe that fits the i.d. of the frame tube, then cut a ridge in it, which I used to line up the tube via the weld seam in the tube. Welded er up, ground er a bit and she's good as new.

Missed the FedEx man with my engine this morning, so it'll likely be in tomorrow.

Here's a few pics of where I'm planning to go next.

One of the neat/ quirky things that has always drawn me too the tw's is the balloon rear tire which in stock form is mounted on a 14" x 4.5" rim. Tire options are a bit limited unless you go with an atv tire, which is what I planned to do. The kicker is that there are multiple cases of people either having to trim the beads or use upwards of 100psi to seat the beads on the tw rim, of which there are several reports of damage to the tire and injury.

The next "common" thing to do is to mount a 12" or 14" trailer rim to the rear hub, which is the route I plan to use. Those who have done it, tend to use the stock hub and weld a flange onto it. I am planning on making a hub from scratch, and at the same time, mount up a disk brake, caliper and hanger from a dr350.

The front wheel will likely get the same treatment, but with custom triple trees to widen everything out, as well as a set of xt350 forks and a disk brake.

These wheels are on the way and these are the tires im eyeing.

The red and white bike are what the bike will likely sit similar to, less the spoked wheels.

Man, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to your motor that happened to mine when I wasn't there to receive it the first attempt. I swear they trashed the motor having to take it back and re-deliver it.

Also, have they tried the ratchet strap method to getting the tires on? That's how I do all of my big tubeless tires like tractor tires and the trike tires.

I am really hoping that it doesn't get destroyed too. At least it's insured but still it's a pain. That could be the case because I'm pretty sure it's like 80 lb.

I think they have used all manner of methods and Lubes and standing on your head with your eye cross crooked to try and get tires mounted. The take away from it is if you get a flat on the trail you are pretty much screwed on a change as the beads are really on there and terrible to get off.

plus, they still run a tube when they put it on the stock tw rim. I don't think it's a sealing issue, it's more that the bead is to tight.
