Oh yeah also broke the throttle piece off, as I was moving my bike around! That sucked!

I thought today was going to be one of the great days, where you get so much done and things go so smoothly.

Well, boot to the head. ;(

Lost my wallet with over a 1000 dollars in it. Its business money, not mine. SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

I noticed, after getting home and planning to buy the parts for our project! Seat, and so forth.... well thats when the great search happened.

No luck yet.

So im going to put a call out the the Universe to please allow who ever that found it to return it safe and sound !!!!

Grrrrrrrrr!

Anyways. lets move on from negativity.

People I request your help to control, seats, cafe style.

Thanks

Wish me luck

Update on the cleaning situation.

Carbs are looking nicer. The kit is ordered. Cleaned up the brakes. took some shots at the front and back.

Dont know if I need new ones. Probably.....!

Glued my throttle together... Crazy glue. Probably buy a new one. Dont need unexpected things to happen at mach .000001

So now the brakes are taking a bath as well after stripping the paint.

Oh yeah, destroyed my axle lock trying to take out the swing arm. Need a new one as well.

Hopefully the results will be good. Cant be worse than they were.

And on with da pics.!

Ok well, I want some information so I can start my order on the parts I need for my bike.

I really love the cafe Zero, rear cafe seat. I think it really snaps the whole design.

Does anyone have any information on it where to purchase it as well as the brake lights and so forth?

As well as the clip on type, I love the angle on them!

The search is on !

Thanks

The Cafe Zero seat was custom made. But once you get your subframe together, doing the glass work for it shouldn't be too hard. The cafes made by Doc Chops are either using this one from DCC, or fabing one up that looks just like it. http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-chassis-seat-parts-black-dcc-originals-ribbed-leather-wrapped-one-up-racing-seat-dcc-lwrapcafe-r.html

Once you hit 100 posts on DTT you get a 10% off at DCC in case you didn't know yet. Or buy a mag from Iron and Air, they have the coupons in there each issue.

Also def check out http://www.partsnmore.com also located in Canada. Got most of my xv750 stuff from them.

Well, still busy cleaning and painting. Painted the swing arm and drive hub. The kick stand.

Grinding some rust, and now thinking of stripping the tank and front fender, and paint it. Shaky shaky cans.

and if I like the color scheme then might possibly get it done by a pro.

But before that, I want to wield the tank, I would like more info on this, so I can let the wielder the best way to achieve the best results.

Are there any people on this forum that have done there tank or even do the hard work for other forum members?

Ill post a pic of what Im looking for.

Also if any other people have any info on the rear tail of these bikes.

Thanks..... Always researching. Thanks guys.

Oh yeah.. one more thing. I tried buy a rear wheel, $35 not bad ;) shipping brings it to $115? Dam. So im looking at a different way. If there are any members, out there in Canada or willing to part with there rear wheel and tire that would help tremendously.

Cleaning of the carbs are a pain the *ss. Make sure they are squeaky clean. I used some guitar wire to clear out the idle circuits.

Post up in the "wanted" section and you're more likely to get bites on parts.

Pay particular attention to the choke circuit - has a tendency to get gummed up on Hitachi carbs really vadly

I have some guitar strings, I will go through every hole.

I hope my carb set arrives soon, as I really want to get the bike running, before it gets to cold.

I ordered my 36mm clip ons. I really cant believe that people want $200 for clip ons, geez,

Got mine for $100 plus a bunch of grips as well.

China Baby!

Anyways, was busy yesterday stripping the front fender, almost done. Will finish that today as well as prep for paint.

Ill strip my tank, but wait before painting as I want to wield it.

Still not satisfied with what I see on the net for the rear seat, and tail section.

If anyone has good links, to other sites, and people making custom stuff. Again, going with the Zero tail I love that design! Its sick!

Should have my part in today or tomorrow for the swing arm, so can put that back together as well.

My buddy found a source for a rear rim, 30$ good price, in the States.

Will try a source closer to home, as not to put him out to much.

Thats all for now

Ok, not much happening, as im waiting for a couple things, but I might as well, give you what I got so far.

Got my gold clip ons, Got a new throttle tube, Got my lock for the swing arm. Want to put that back on today.

Painted my rear wheel, and a couple other things.

Getting my 2nd carb kit today, so I can reassemble the carbs, and put in the O rings.

Then try out my engine, and check the compression.

Thats it so far. Ill let you know when the cool stuff starts.

Ie...... Fabrication.

Well, the carb kits, are wrong ;(

Sad.... Apparently I have a different carb than the usual rebuild kit.

Well, learning...... this is what I expected from what people are talking about 1st gen, 2nd gen carbs.

Not sure if it would be best to get a different carb set. Not really what I want to do.

Hmm. Got pics, ill post them latter.

so I now have 60$ of useless carb rebuild kits......

I can return the one, but not sure about the other since I bought it online.

ahhh welll.
when I do get it all together it should be a nice story to talk about in the future.,,,

what carb kit did you buy Uber ? I've just finished fitting the k &n kit 4113 to an 82 xv750 with the stock Hitachi carbs (that come with the "first gen" 81-83 xv 750 and 920). Id recommend talking to the guys over at virago tech forum about any of these issues if you haven't already done so. Also, the forum has the Haynes and Clymers manuals downloadable (from which i took the swingarm bolt torque specs when i got the rear end powder coated. )
