I'm gonna give it a whirl at a project log and see what I can't learn about restoring ANOTHER bike in less than 2 years. I managed to polish up my 360 in about 4 months but that was mainly because it was a complete and more or less clean runner that just needed some freshening up.
What I have NOW is a very rough NONE running pile of parts that would make a complete 1972 Honda CB450. Well that and another pile of parts that is more or less a 1971 CB450 without an engine. Plans are to at least make ONE of them as restored to factory as I can manage within my limits. The other one, well that will require me to hunt down and score an engine somewhere after that who knows... I will try to make this as interesting as possible, well at least with as many pretty pictures as I can.
I've got plenty of time to work on this one too and from the looks of the 72 I'm gonna need it since it "looks" like it was left to sit outdoors for long enough to coat everything with a nice layer of red stuff.
Here's a few shots of when I got the mess bought and loaded up and brought home. Total cost for the all the parts pieces and bikes was 400$ Please excuse the mess as I was rushing since I had to have the friggin trailer back that afternoon so I just threw stuff out.
All three lined up. ;D I think the kid was as about thrilled as the 360 was, she's still pissed at me. :-[
I stuck some of the parts back on the 71 frame so I could move that pile around easier, plus I can push it up and down the street now making VROOOM VROOM sounds. :
Here's a few shots of random stuff I found, the PO liked to used electrical tape to fix things, there is just about as much dirt all over everything as there is rust. I donno where this thing lived but damn someone rode the heck out of it.
So starts the fun, I spent most of the day to day ripping into it but I will let this sink in for a bit. Will throw this up since I thought it was a good deal, 24$ at Harbor Freight, but it isn't what you think it is.
