Simple XS

It's from a ducati monster, 320mm 0 offset 6x80 bolt pattern. I have a 16mm spacer to get it out to the right spot.

that looks like a 300mm rotor from the s2r800, 695 and late 620. all the 320 have offset.

the bolt pattern is typical 1990-2010 6 bolt brembo and a lot of yamahas also used that bolt pattern.

You Would be correct. I thought it was a 320mm, but it's also been sitting on a shelf for a few years and I couldn't tell you what it actually came off of beyond the brand. I checked it with calipers and it is 300mm.

Soon I will have front brakes. The bluespot caliper adapter just needs finishing. No CNC so the radii on the corners will be dobe manually.

A few updates, the front brake is on and working. It's a "bluespot" caliper with a cbr250 master cylinder.

Also done is the rebuild on the rfy shocks. They are completely full of 10wt fork oil, have bleeders, and actually have damping for the full range of travel now.

Next I need to figure out a seat, make a better electrics tray, and get tires. Then I can make a harness, and tear down for paint.

Starting to get the seat planned out. I had an extra tank that was smashed by forks at some point, but that's OK when you only want part of the back.

Love your work.. wish I had the time, experience and patience to make my own components!
It’s been a few months since you posted last- how’s it coming along?

It's waiting on me to quite being lazy and wire it. I've actually been working on a few different things, a XL185 that is going to be my youngest brother in laws christmas present, a XL75 that is getting a 120cc xr100 motor, then I did a major service on my tiger 800. So not forgotten, hopefully I'll pick up steam after christmas.

I believe your bike to be a 1981 XS650SH. I can't be 100% on that from here, but it sure looks like it. I say that because I believe the 1980 had slightly different ignition components. If you're staying stock ignition, the 1981 through 1983 are all the same. Also, that 16 inch drum brake rear wheel will have value to somebody. It was 1981 only. It should get a premium on eBay.

Nice work!

The previous owner changed over to a PMA and a mikes xs ignition. Stock it should have had the factory tci. So it'll stay with the aftermarket set up.

I tried trading the wheels off locally for spokes, that didn't work out so I did the 19" rear swap.

I don't plan on keeping this one. I need to start working on it so I can list it in the spring when prices are higher. Plus I could use the cash to fix my EFI XS tracker. It had a wirst pin circlip fail and needs to go big bore.

Finally got some motivation to do some work on this. Cut the piece of sheet metal to start finalizing the seat. Needs some clean up, and a bit more work, but you can see where I'm going with this.

I'm waiting on upgraded fork for the XL75/120, so I quit being lazy since I'm out of excuses for the XS. With the seat pan I can set up the electronics tray to start wiring too.
