Looks like the fins can go thinner, or be tapered to remove a bit more without cutting heat transfer.

That is exactly what Zeke told me! Thank you! They are 3mm each.

We checked the squish after the fact. We had removed the base gasket and we still had .042” squish.

If you're still making power and don't mind tearing down the engine on a frequent basis, you can go even higher. Short skirt forged pistons can often get you over the 5000 ft/min mark (especially on a drag motor, which will only be running these speeds for short periods of time).

Abnormal wear on the skirts will be a signal that you're near/past your limit.

Depending on how deep you want to go down this rabbit hole, longer con rods will also help, but will also bring a new set of problems with them.
You were right...abnormal wear on your skirt...so 8500 is the limit. I think we will shoot for 8000.

Here is a Pursang 250 that somebody put an Astro jug on it. Case ports have nice carbon print to port now.

Opinions differ, but .040" is usually the upper limit for what one would consider a squish band. Not uncommon to see clearances as low as even .010".

This is going to sound crazy but we are starting with 1.4 millimeters =
0.0551 inch

Found pictures for the Model 81 cylinders with the finger ports. Were the finger ports part of the intake or transfers?

Transfers. There must be matching holes in the piston.

Thank you. Zekes M70 piston on the left and My M51 piston on the right had holes on the exhaust side. What were these for? Both our skirts had been shortened on the exhaust side also.

Do you have a matching M51 barrel to csee what the holes line up with? If not a transfer duct then probably to cool the front face of the barrels, but they are large for that.
