Pocket Rocket - 1978 xs650

Thanks man!

I will plan to use it! I'm probably going to ditch the Yamaha badge, it doesn't look right huh

I really dig your choice of tank for this bike. If you are liking it, don't let the naysayers talk you out of it. As far as the badge is concerned, why not just ditch the Yamaha logo entirely?

Picked up from powder coaters during lunch time :)

Installed the tapered bearings this weekend. The hardest part were getting the upper and lower races installed.

Ground down bronze bushing so pivot tube is out slightly. All greased up and ready to go.

Thanks man! She's a roller again. I should be able to switch between these 2 tanks.

Looking great. The fork covers look good too - you cut them down to fit with your clipons? I can't remember what you were doing there.

Jay made me a set of covers to work with my clip-ons :D

Good stuff. This is very similar to what I wanna do with my next xs650..

Lower forks back from powder. Rebuilt. New seals etc. Waiting for new fork tubes. Old head races make good seal drivers

You may recall that right out of the gate I said I thought it looked silly - if I may eat my words, it's coming along really well.

Thanks man! Yeah toaster tank grows on ya. I actually have the tabs configured so I can swap between the 2 tanks. Planning on sending the peanut to http://www.headcasekustomart.com/ for paint.
