My 55 Chevy Hot Rod "Voodoo Child"

Mr. Sinister

Been Around the Block
I've been a hot rodder for pretty much my whole life, and admittedly, it's my first love. I've always been into bikes, but cars are my thing. I've owned mustangs, vettes, camaros, a 64 Falcon Sprint hardtop, a 69 Cougar, 2006 GTO, even a couple of turbo Subarus. None were left stock. I just can't leave anything stock. ;D
I've owned this car for about 7 years. I bought it because it had a good body and frame, but mechanically it was a mess. I've redone the interior, built and installed the motor, rebuilt and beefed the trans, rebuilt and beefed the rear (but hope to have a nice Currie 9" by this time next year), added power disc brakes, redid most of the trim, and countless hours of other odds and ends. I was shooting for a late 60's street racer/shaker look. Think I got it pretty close anyway.
Why Voodoo Child? Because at a car show, people will walk past much nicer show cars to check my ride out, like they're under a spell or something. It's never the nicest car at a show, but it's got character, and it's a real driver. I drive the hell out of it. I'm proud of that. It's got a 425-ish HP Small block, currently.

Nice 55!
My old man has a 56 Nomad. Blown 427 under the hood.
She gets up to a mean scream too. Dad is 61, but when he's behind the wheel. He's 20 all over again. Burning up rubber where ever he goes. Lol

Always liked the tri-5's myself... yours is sweeeeeet!
I've been a Street Rod fan for decades myself, just a couple weeks ago there was a bullet nosed Stude on an S-10 chassis with a SBC for sale down the road, kinda hacked... Guy wanted $1400, I offered him a grand, then the following weekend it was gone. :(

Thanks fellas!!
What I really want is a built 409 and a 5 speed. But, I'll settle for a more traditional big block. 427 or 454 would be fine. ;D
With the way gas has been, and the stupid power you can make pretty easily, I've also been considering an LSX swap. Either way, it needs a 5 speed.

Got a nice lope to it ;) :D

Nice shoebox. I've always thought the '55's were the best looking of the tri-5's.

Thanks guys!!
Redbird: Right you are!! :D

It's got a pretty decent size cam in it. It's a Comp XR294HR. It's an aluminum-headed 11:1 small block.
