Bare Metal Paint Prep?

Forgive the dumb question, but how well can I expect a high temp clear coat to stick to bare metal? I'm debating just waxing it or actually clearing it. Any tips?

It will stick but you'll still get rust under the clear eventually.
If you clean it really really well with lacquer thinner you may be okay

Most hi temp clears will start to yellow eventually. Either way, the key to adhesion is proper prep. I have added a grinded texture to bare metal just to change up the appearance and like the results. I'll include a couple pics.

Look at the POR15 range, they've got what you need, a bit pricey but they work
