1981 Honda CB250rs Cafe project

Slow progress! Hoping to have tank painted next week, but my painters been flat out.
Engine is being polished as we speak. Has all new seals too. Caliper and forks are being painted Sunday. Gets me so excited to see so much change in the bike!

I have two throttle cables that go from the throttle to the carb. Is it possible to get an aftermarket cable to convert it to one cable from the throttle to two cables at the carb? Does this make sense ?

You can delete your "push" (safety for if your spring breaks)cable if you want. As long as you trust your spring on the throttle bracket and know how to kill your bike you dont need it. Many members including myself just run the pull cable. Warning though if your return spring breaks it'll be wot until you kill it.

Finally got the engine back from soda blasting, ready to have polished over the weekend then back on the bike!

Did you put rear sets on the old girl? If your rocking clubman or clip on bars its a good idea to have rearsets, otherwise it is super uncomfortable. Plus they give you more ground clearance for more agresive cornering.

No rear sets. I bought some but didn't have much previous planning for the bike and they don't fit. So I'm just using this bike as a learning experience. Screwed a lot up and wasted a lot of money but hopefully learning from it alp

Don't worry I think everyone screws up and wastes a lot of money on they're first build. If you went with super moto bars it would give you improved feel but won't fold you in half as much.

The only thing that jumps out at me is the speedo, man that thing sticks out.
I like the tank, but the dark paint just hides it's shape too much.

Wiring on this thing sucks. The harness had previously been modified by lots and lots of chopping. Trying to re wire it up and the only thing that keeps getting me is the running rear light works but doesn't flash when the brakes are applied. The brake light flashes brightly when the running lights are off

Been way too long since I've made a post or even much progress with uni starting and a new job. But here she is so far. Just got her back from having a custom 2 into one exhaust being built.

Things left to do:
Complete wiring
Have the seat upholstered
Order new throttle and choke cables
Tune up
Ride (hopefully)

Interested to read this thread, the RS was a hugely popular bike in the UK at one time and I used to have a business hiring them out for courier work.......owned 30 or so of them!
If you have any problems let me know.....hopefully I can still remember how to fix it!!

Brake light bracket needed next, and to get rid of the speedo for a much smaller gps speedo unit.

Tried kicking her over this afternoon, think the carb needs a rebuild first. All wiring is just about done
