"Sweep The Floor" bike

I have a thread over at sohc4.net, but thought maybe you guys and gals would geta kick out of this.
After building two CB500/550's and doing an engine swap in my '71 CB500, I looked around one day and realized I had almost enough stuff to build another bike, hence the name"sweep the floor"; I'll just sweep the floor of the garage and build something!

I found a titled frame and a few boxes of parts on Craigslist. Most of the parts were junk and I only ended up with one box worth of usable stuff. The P.O. had cut off the rear frame loop and passenger pegs, made struts from scrap metal and generally F'd up along the way. The front end was from, I think, a CB/CL350 and the rear wheel was a Suzuki or something.

I had a good running but oily CB500 engine from my '71.

Off with the front end...

...and on with some freshly rebuilt forks from ebay for only $65 shipped. The guy rebuilt them only to find rust under the ears. It's purely cosmetic and I couldn't care less.

A while back, I picked up this 16" Lester wheel out of a junkyard for $25.

Bought a matching front from ebay...

...painted them both up and....

Nice set of Lester mags for under $150.

Made a fender brace from a $5 junkyard front fender...

...and picked up a set of Shinkos for cheap. In no time at all, I had a roller.

Did some spray bomb detailing on the frame, rebuilt a caliper from my pile of parts, and used a wiring harness that came with the frame. It turns out that it's a 550F wiring harness, which is different from the 500 and 550K, but I sorted that out later.

I put 400F bars on my '71, so I had these controls left over. Modded them to fit a set of Clubmans that a friend gave me. Even reused my old grips.

The master cylinder was a barely used unit that came off an XS650. I got it for, like $25. I'm 99% sure that the m/c that MikesXS sells is the same one that David Silvers sells for the Hondas.

These groovy spikes were another junkyard crawl find. I used another pair to mount the headlight.

Took the engine down the the case...

..found some dried up pucks and distorted o-rings (the '71 had sat in a barn for 28 years before I revived it. No wonder the gaskets were shot!)

....and resealed the engine. The only leaks now are a tiny drip from the shift shaft seal and one drip from the oil pan. Nothing worth adressing at this point.

Picked up one of Carpy's pipes.....probably the single most expensive part on the bike...and painted it old school white.

I had picked up this fairing at Barber last year. I painted it to match the faded O.G. tank using model car paint, but ultimately had to remove if for clearance around the master cylinder.

My buddy welded on this frame brace and tag light mount....

... and it tucked the light up nice and tight against the seat.

The seat was another find from an XS650 forum. WAY cheaper than they're going for on ebay. Here she is on one of her first runs....

I had leftover 400F footpeg parts...

...so I put together a set of "rear sets" for the STF bike.

If I had different bars, I could. Or, I could grind out a big chunk of the fairing, which I don't really want to do. I didn't realize it would hit the master cylinder until I aimed the headlight.
One good thing to come out of it: I was able to rotate the bars for a much better riding position, especially with the 400F pegs. They only move the pegs back about 4", but it really makes a difference.

Very cool man. Way to make something from what most folks would see as nothing. Let me know if you want to unload that fairing...

I seem to be having a problem with my wiring. I am hot on both sides of my main fuse with the key on or off ???? Can any on help?
