Assuming the carbs were both thoroughly cleaned, did you "bench sync" the carbs prior to installing them (and then do a vacuum sync)? Did you measure the fuel level in both bowls? If either are off (or the carbs have some blocked passages) you can get the 1 cylinder running type of thing. Or if the plugs are old. Or if the spark plug end is old.

thanks im currently not getting combustion in the left cylinder so I got to figure that out

Compression, fuel, spark. You need all three.
Which one is not right?

I think its the carb because the plugs are getting spark, and the cylinder is getting compression, so I took the carb apart and cleaned them today

While you have them off the bike and after you clean them, check the fuel level in each bowl (easier to take the bowls off for adjustment if not connected to the bike). Mount carbs on a portable workbench so they are level (both front-back and side-side); then check fuel level. If you have an old set of rubber intake manifolds you can mount them to a board for positioning.

Also do a "bench sync" of the carbs (use the shank of a new twist drill bit) so they will be close to the final vacuum sync adjustment needed.

It's easier in the long run if the machine is running properly before all the 'pretty ' paint is applied.

Did a bench sync, and checked the fuel all looks good now just got to do afew things before I put them back on

Running into a similar problem with mine. Carbs are perfect, fuel level correct, jets and brand new, no obstructions in the fuel line, new fuel filter, new petcock and get a dead cylinder and no power. Certain it's a ignition and spark issue.

progress repot not much progress to repot was at lake Tahoe for a week but I did shave the seat, might not keep it

Seems like there's a lot of that going around among '80s bike owners right now. :p Don't know if it's the coil windings, or insulating oil breaking down, or what. Probably age related though.

some parts im thinking of getting for my bike
