So I love Baja VWs but will not have $$ to buy or build one so I decided Im gonna make a Baja Yaris. Pan is to.lift it 1.5" front and back. Put 27*8.5 R14 General Grabber ATx tires, roof basket and if I can get it.shipped and afford it a.skid plate from UK where they rally these all day long. I found a lift kit for 230 bucks shipped out of russia but after looking at it figured I could build it cheaper. I recently swapped the struts and grabbed the old ones back from the scrap yard. Started tinkering.
Built a strut extension.
Piece of bump stop.
Spring perch.
Mount. Now how to fill it? Trip.to.CT and.
Boat roller. High density rubber, uv and salt.resistant. cut a.slice.
Roberts your mothers brother.
Make 2 and front sorted. Ill buy rear lifts for 25 ish. So cost me $55 cad total for a lift.
Also will need camber bolts for 25 or so for alignment on the front. Down the road if body survives I may do the 2ze swap from a newer corolla into it. Ihave 208k miles 358k km on her now.
Should Arrive by Friday so this weekend I should be able to install the lift if I have time. Going to run it rest of the winter with the winter tires and see how it goes before investing in the AT's. I need to find a used tire in the size I am going with to put in the wheel wells and check clearances etc. too. I want to install one on a wheel and try bolting it in and see how it clears.
Ha thanks. I am not the first to do this but I only know of 3 others that exist. 2 of the 3 are Canadians too and did it for winter clearance LOL. I will say I decided to do it before I knew anyone did. Found the others as I looked for Ideas on how.
Buddy of mine had a cavalier with similar mods. It was impressive how well that thing launched over a ditch. We won't talk about the landing on the other side though lol
Ha, I still have to drive this as a daily, just want to make it better in the snow and to get to some fishing spots in the summer without tearing off the muffler or bumpers.
