Super Duper Hawk

ApriliaBill

Yeah...I'm old school.
I bought a 63 Super Hawk yesterday. The bike will fire, but is apparent the 50 year old carbs are tired. I will keep and rebuild them, but I'd like to ride soon. I hear Amal's are the trick (on the 305 site) but I can't get logged on over there to ask questions. I found some Amal knock-offs (made in Japan) for a decent price. anybody have any luck with these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/201235659519?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The carbs aren't that hard to clean up with a strand out of a wire brush. I have a couple CA77 engines and CB77 heads. That's another project. You can make any carb work, much easier if you can hook up a sniffer to get your mixture dialed in. O-2 sensor with read out.

Those "Amal" carbs look a hell of a lot like Keihen PWK flatslides with a flange on the intake side.

Check out Oko carbs if you are after a set of decent made yet cheap PWK rip offs.
