I believe you are correct sir! Hadn't thought of that. That 4 lobe unit worked like a normal single point unit x 2, though I never fooled around with one. I think higher rpm was the goal like you say though the rubbing blocks should last twice as long as well as the contacts. "double life" rings a bell, but I don't remember that being the claim to fame.
