CB550 rear hub problem: seal won't fit

Hey all,

I'm almost done rebuilding the wheels for my 76' CB550F, but I just can't seem to get the dust seal on the sprocket side in place.
As far as I know, it's supposed to go inside the bearing retainer with a spacer underneath.

I've used a lot of force trying to get it in, but it's just stripping the plastic as you can see in the pictures. And it's the exact same size as the original. So far all the other seals went in pretty easily.

The seal is number 21 in the last pic.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

It doesn’t go there. Look closely at your parts breakdown. It presses into the back of that “sprocket cover” with the four bolt holes. If you’re not using that I guess I wouldn’t worry about it too much. The bearing is a sealed bearing.

Oh wow, you're right! Thanks a lot man!
I've been struggling with this for days now, feeling pretty stupid haha
