77 gs400 from my haircutter

hm the bolt patter looks a little different and the backspacing is different?
Sidenote i do have a brand new 530 x ring chain the garage. That on top of the rear sprocket i already got, might be easier just to get a stock counter sprocket and keep the 530 for the time being... Now that i know this tho, I will probably do the conversion down the road

Where are you getting the differences in bolt pattern? Here's the link for the GS300 sprocket :

And your stock GS400 sprocket:

Either way, it doesn't matter if you're running a 530 chain.

The diameter of the bolt pattern is the same but the bolt holes on the 300 arent evenly spaced? If that makes sense.

Finally got around to doin some more work on the bike- got progressive fork springs and shocks in the back. Totally transformed the bike. Handles so much smoother and more planted in the corners. It also helps having oil in both forks! The left side was damn near dry when i opened it up.
Installed the new sprockets and chain, going down 4 teeth in the rear also helped a lot. Cruises easier on the highway and I get a little more time in each gear now.

This weekend I will put in the SS brake line from Spiegler and some new pads. After that I will be good until winter when Ill relace the wheels, put some new tires on, powder coat some parts, go throught the carbs thoroughly and maybe a new clutch.

Got the new tires in, Shinko 244. should be good enough for the dirt county roads around here

Also helping my buddy get his CT90 back on the road!

Took the zuk out to philly for the distinguished gentlemans ride! surprisingly good turn out!! saw some great bikes, possibly some dtt members?
one of the smallest bikes and one of the only 2-ups!

Funny, it's amazing how good many of the old small bikes were. I had a CB450, a CB400F, a KZ400, and maybe they don't match up with the stuff I ride these days, but I remember every one of them fondly and hope to ride them in the future. I hope your having blast on that thing, looks like it's doing the job well....

Good on you! :)
Do you also ride with the Chin On The Tank group? http://www.chinonthetank.com/

Havent heard of them but looks like something i would be into! Maybe ill crash one of their weekly rides. Im actually in atlantic city about an hour away but there isnt much worth while riding until you get inland of philly.

And yea I'v always had smaller bikes (250-500cc) This one is a real blast to ride although next year I'm looking to step up to something i can fit more comfortably on- being 6'2". Iv had my eye on some airhead beemers and modern triumphs. Maybe a CB750 since they seem to be a dime a dozen on the east coast!

I'm also 6'2" (33" inseam) and feel your pain. I've been visiting the Cycle Ergos site http://cycle-ergo.com/ quite often since its inception - saw it on the AdvRiders forum - and found that one of the few vintage bikes that looks like it would fit me w/o any mods is the '80s Suzuki GS850G/1000G (don't particularly like the cruizerish GL version but do like the shaft-drive G; 850 and 1000 use the same frame). These bikes also have almost universal praise (except for the charging system).

ah yes I'm very familiar with cycle ergos... iv been doing the exact same thing. My dad had a 1980 gs1100 (not the cruiser) that he got from my grandfather and it was crazy fast even for modern standards!

Well I guess the tapatalk app isn't going to let me post that picture. I finally got around to painting and powdercoating some parts this winter. I'll try from my laptop
