Stuck in Tokyo for three weeks... anyone know where the big Cafe makers are?

Been Around the Block
Greetings!

Long story short, wife is Japanese, I lived in Tokyo area for 6 years, her dad passed away so I hopped next available flight and am here for three weeks.

Anyone know where I can find any of the big Cafe/Custom bike shops?

By the way... I will post any pictures of cool bikes I see while I am here. I am drooling pretty much constantly when I see bikes over here!

Matt.

The motorcycle shop district is in Ueno.

I was there about 10 years ago and it was awesome.

No idea about directions, but you'll find it ;)

Ah, excellent. I am heading over there later this week. I will search for it. Thanks.

I will also take copious pictures and post them here when (and if) I do find it.

Condolances on the passing of your FIL but enjoy Japan, it is on my to visit someday list for sure.

Thanks guys. Being part of a Japanese funeral is worth a few posts in and of itself... wow interesting, bizarre and also very good.

If you have a quick read of this post (circa 2010) I am wondering what I will find in Ueno, but will make the trek early next week anyways. Lots of pictures to follow.

It's an old post, and only one person's opinion, but this part sounds promising:

"I have seen nice bikes in a couple of shops, but one of the shops had nothing but very old bikes just collecting dust."

Crazy

Ya I agree... anything covered in dust sounds good to me. I sort of automatically head in that direction...

my condolences!

dunno if this is tokyo, but they build rad bikes!

Thanks Ichiban. I will see what I can do. Since I am here primarily for family/funeral stuff, I am limited with time for extensive travel but am hoping to get around to see some bike garages/shops in the Tokyo area as time permits....
