Engine part of the way through soda-blasting and then pulling apart motor to see why it's jumping out of 2nd.

You need to perform the 2nd (5th) gear fix unfortunately. The dog teeth get worn down and you have to get in and grind them. Two ways you can do it. Both require a few cases being removed.

Option 1: Try and get the bike on a lift and pull the counter shaft out from underneath.

Option 2: Flip the bike upside down and do it that way. (Much easier)

There is tons of info over at xs11.com. This is a serious issue and if left unresolved you can have lock up.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I wouldnt spend to much more on the frame until you get a solid engine.

Realized you had the engine out after all the picks loaded. Should be a lot easier and you dont have to split the case...and dont want to.

Yes you are right. Dogs have been done. I postde the whole lot over on XS1100.com.au. With steps and pics. I will post an update here shortly. Bike is now back together. Still not immaculate as the chroming prices kill me but good enough for the moment:)

On the bright side, you were right. That's always nice.
