Just picked up this up a few days ago. Got some pretty cool plans for her. She’s a 1982 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim.

Latest project is an 70's amen savior chopper.. turning more steel than i'd originally thought, but she's getting there.. Punched CB750 going in when I get back to start frame mockup, then starting the 77 CB750 with a CBR front end..

A little over a month ago I went down and got off the freeway at the first available exit. I parked in this exact spot and took a photo pointing the opposite direction. Everything has been replaced or repaired and I painted the fairings. No visible damage to the bike and I escaped without any long lasting injuries. Glad that the bike and me are still here.

the rest of the bike looks awesome, why not have a go at making a custom one, mock up the shape you want in cardboard then copy it into a sheet of alloy (easily bendable and polishable) , how is it attached to the pipes? captive nuts on the pipes or some sort of clamp arrangement? if its nuts it could be quite do-able and if it doesn't work its only time that's its cost you (sheets of alloy are easily available on every street corner if you can reach the top of the pole the street sign or stop sign is on)

This bike came with a large garage 2 friends and I rented. Stuff left behind by previous owners, property management said keep it.
Just a mock up in the pic but I put it up on the bench today.
