Replacing exhaust studs
« on: Feb 09, 2017, 15:19:12 »
Hey guys, I am hoping this will be the last time rebuild this engine (1980 cb750k) for a while. However, each rebuild I get to know this baby even more. One of the things I will be replacing are all the bolts for new modern hardened bolts to reduce stripping and bolts snapping.

Where can I find exhaust studs? Does anybody have the dimensions that I need? I'm sure these are replaceable right? Thanks guys.

Not sure about the Hondas but I've done heaps over the years on GS's and I could always find studs at my local hardware / auto shop. They'll be metric - probably M8 x 1.25......60mm or so.

Take one of your bolts with you and work it out.

Yes metric, you will want 10.9 hardness. 12 is too hard and 8 is too soft

Kinda surprised but Honda doesn't have em anymore. They're 8X55.
