1981 CB750 Timing Chain Tick Marks

Putting my bike back together, when trying to time this timing chain on my 1981 CB750, what do these tick marks need to be aligned with? On every other year it is pretty straight forward but I haven't been able to find any resources on this particular engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should be in the cover housing. It’s on page 27 of the manual in the inspection section. http://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/CB750_Manual/Honda1979thru83CB750ServiceManualChapter03InspectionandAdjustment.pdf You need to put the big cover on and remove the little cover to see the alignment marks with the spark advancer.

Dang, I feel so dumb. I removed the entire cover when the little cover was the only thing that I needed to do :/

Thanks for your help!

Don’t worry about it. We’ve all done stuff like that. Like when the bike won’t start and I start freaking out only to find the kill switch is off. :)
