WTB - Small displacement motorcycle for Lake Erie Loop

anotherkindofmonday

I like to make things and think about them.
Hi, DTT-ers. Anyone have or know of a 70's small displacement bike looking for a new owner? I'm looking for a CB175-200 or ... whatever. 2-stroke or 4. Lemme know.

650 miles in one day on a bike you could fit in your trunk? for charity? How hard can it be? ;)

I actually talked to this guy, hes really cool. Nice bike too. A little pricey, but i think you could talk him down a bit.

Hey there,
I have a solution to your Lake Erie Loop ride.
I have a 1971 Kawasaki 100cc G3TR-A for sale, COMPLETLEY rebuilt and street legal, good 95% restoration, certified here in Ontario, has ownership, about 200 miles since rebuild. Currently licenced and insured in Ontario. Total original miles around 3300, depending on whether or not I go for a ride tonight.
Was listed in toronto kijij. If you email me I can send you photos and list of the rework done.
For just street use, I would drop about 3 or 4 teeth off the rear sprocket (it has the trail sprocket on it right now), which according to the mfg will give about 66 mph / 110 kph top end.
The engine is oil injected with separate oil tank - no premix required. For a 38 year-old bike, it's a pretty modern engine design - rotary valve, 5 speed tranny, generator keeps the battery charged, etc etc.
$975.00 Canadian - which is probably what I've got in parts for the project (don't even talk about my labour).

Man, Yinzer. I looked on CL and didn't see any of those rides. You're like a CL search master. I sent out some emails, hopefully someone will get back to me with good news.

Thanks, paco! That sounds like a fantastic little ride, fantastic enough for me to feel a little bad about pounding on it for 14 hours or so! I wonder how much of a PITA it is to import and register that bike here in the US.

Either way, I would love to see some pics.

That is a kickass bike, man! Those little two-smokers are great and you've done a fantastic job with this one! Anyone know the ins-and-outs of importing it to the USA? I'm kinda assuming that it would be a major pain in the ass, unfortunately.

hey man,

i am letting go my cd175, 1973. made in canada for one year, rebuilt motor new every thing. it tops out at 115-120kms.
it scoots really good. i will cert and met half way...

Sounds nice, but I think I need something here in the US. Importing a bike just isn't in the cards for me these days.

If it is old it is easy to import. Just fax the border the papers 72 hours before you cross and they charge you tax. at least from USA to Canada. The other way should be pretty easy too. AS long as the bike is over 15 years old it usually is quite easy. Otherwise there is a bunch more fees, paperwork etc.
