Hi guys and gals, figured as much as i lurk on DTT i needed to throw my build thread on here. Just a little back story I've had several bikes mainly sport bikes and a sport tourer, after running into some ticket issues with these bikes i decided it was time to find something different. I wasn't in a hurry to buy a bike so i just kept an eye out, all i knew is i wanted a Honda. Then one day i run across some cafe cx500's and just loved the way the engine looks, from that point i set my sights on a cx500 found one an hour from me and decided to pull the trigger, And this is what it led to. It didn't run right when i bought it and had several small issues so the only thing that made sense in my head? complete teardown. So i tore her down stripped the frame and started cutting off brackets. I had a vision in my head of what i wanted it to look like and just had to keep pushing along. It was slow at first with all the sanding and painting of bits. but as parts started to show up it started coming together. After 2 months of just working on it in spare time its back on the ground i think the pictures will speak for themselves with the work done. i gave myself a deadline of 1200 and may 15th I'm hard pushing that cost now and i have 16 days left to finish. Waiting on a couple more parts and still have to build or find a battery box, wire and build a seat but all in all I'm loving how its coming along. Basically everything except engine internals are either new, been rebuild, or modified!
Knowing this is 2 months of build and parts selection etc in one paragraph feel free to ask anything you might want to ask or question anything you see lol.
Any tips on seat building would be appreciated!
