Hey yall. Picked up my new toy a few weeks ago. Plan on doing a bratstyle build without going overboard too much. Shes in great shape for 38 years old so my main goal is to not chop it to hell but make it better. First pic is the day i got her. Next is how she sits after a tune and new shoes. Lastly is my first attempt at a seat pan. Forgot to show my inspiration.

That's a nice looking original bike there. Seat/fender/bars and you've got a real head turner

Ok fellas. Seat pan part deux. Had to re measure and adjust some hole dimension but i think it will be perfect. 15* up at the end. Also turns out i am not much of a seamstress. I tried to stitch up the seat but broke the machine. Fortunately there is someone local that upholsters.

Another GS, nice! I like the seat pan. 14 gauge aluminum? I need to make a seat pan for mine real soon - http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=66251.0

Thanks. Its 14ga galvanized sheet metal. Im a big boy and wanted to make sure the seat stayed a seat.

I was going to go with 16 gauge steel. Galvanized wouldn't be bad, but I have some mounting nuts to weld to it. What did you use to cut it out? Looks like done on a plasma or something.

We have a 4000 watt laser. Its getting powdercoated tonight. Im lucky to have access to a bunch of stuff because of my work.

Little update. Received the majority of my parts. Headlight taillight exhaust speedo. And various lights seals and bearings. Seat pan is finished and at the upholsters. Powder coat selected and will be here friday for the pieces that need coating. Still deciding if ill keep the clubman bars or look for something else. Any sugestions?

From what I've heard clubman handles are uncomfortable and often hit the tank on full lock. I have "superbike" bars and my gs650 and they are functional and look good in my opinion.

New to me exhaust installed. Its really quiet. When i pull it back off it will get wrapped soley because i like the way it looks. I may put a different slip on on maybe a short turn down gp style. I think clip ons are the way to go. Im not thrilled with the clubmans. They just look weird.

That is a clean seat pan...plasma cut steel look a bit better than my plywood hahaha. Gonna be a nice looking bike.

Going by the pic you posted, personally I'd leave the exhaust how it is. Looks cool black. Nice bike

I appreciate the comments. I might just do that.

Side note. Ordered drag bars and new progressive fork springs Should be here next week.

Started to strip her down. Still am unsure about the bars. Put on drag bars instead of the clubman. Guess im gonna try clip ons
