1972 CB250 Brat Tracker FINISHED!

That came out really nice, although, I admit I was stumped seeing a left side drive chain. My CL72 (250) is right side drive, keep forgetting the "modern" ones are "normal"...

May have to snag and save a couple pics if your finished machine.

Thanks Scuffy, there are a bunch of photos on:

Zoltan, the wheels are stock, just powder coated gloss black and then laced with stainless spokes from Dime City Cycles.

Thanks for the fast reply bud, much appreciated!
Couple more questions, where did you get the fresh decals after
you repainted the tank? Also did you fabricate the brackets for
the front mud guard.

Thanks dude!!

Qawls, the stripe is painted on, not a decal.
The front mud guard brackets are water cut aluminium. I draw them up on CAD to allow for the larger tire. They then required some bending to get them to fit around the tire.

Very nice man, are those K70's you've got cause they're are the
tires I'm going with. The front mud guard is a bit of a dilemma
for me at the moment, if you could acquire another set of those
front mud guard brackets I would be more than willing to pay,
they look clean and I could avoid buying a new mud guard.

Just name your price mate!

Cheers!!

Qawls,

The tires are Firestone ANS. Similar to K70's.

Happy to help out with the front mud guard brackets.
I've got a spare set in the garage, but may not suit your forks.
I'll need to know your mounting bolt spacing and approx height you need them.

Shoot me an email at matt at saltyspeedco.com and we can sort something out.
Don't forget I'm in Australia. Not sure where you are, but shipping may be a pain if your in the US.

You are the man! Didn't expect that answer! I'm based in AUS dude, Melbourne, so it's all good on the front. I got a CB 360 so I'm not sure if the measurements are the same on the forks and I haven't bought my tires yet but will be doing so early next week. The manual I have for my bike is for both 360's and 250's (CB) so maybe we'll be right.
One more question... How'd you go about painting your engine, excluding the casings. I don't want to buy new seals for my bike so I'm avoiding taking the engine apart, just because of the budget but it would be interesting to find out how people are spraying their engines.

Thanks a lot dude!! I think I better make a new thread and get some pictures up to give everyone a look at what I'm working with.

Yep will get right on that, sorry hip!
Just love so much about your build, great work!

Mate, love your work! Just wondering where you got those indicators...seen them on a few builds and can't find them anywhere.

Bike looks great man. Really great job. wondering if you could walk me through what you did with the battery box -- trying to do something similar on my cb550 and starting from scratch on the fabrication front.

FSC, indicators are from here: http://japan.webike.net/products/1450561.html

Huckleberry, the battery box started as a piece of 1.2mm steel. Make a template from cardboard or paper then lay it out on the steel. Bend the edges up so you just have a weld along each edge. It can be done differently as it's hard to get a sharp bend in all edges doing it way way I did, but it still turned out ok. It bolts in using tabs from the side covers.

I've hunted through all my photos and this is the best one I have of the battery box unfortunately.

By the way I was just joking because it seems like with all the awesome things you did on your build, the one thing you didn't get a picture of is the one everyone has been asking about!

Looks great! Good job! Was wondering what kind of padding/foam did you get for the bike? Haven't found a good option yet, and still is figuring out how to create my own pan...
