OK, so I am finally getting settled enough to start scavaging. So to get going, here's some local bone yards. Lets do some some intel here. Which are dumps, gold mines, and gougers? If you know, what kind of hours do they keep? Any others out there worth giving creds?

LOL - funny how many there are near military bases....

I don't have anything to add yet but I'm definitely interested. I'll post if I find any winners.

Scot, how did you ever become so resourceful? This is great. I know where I'll be vacationing this spring now :D

Just Googled "motorcycle junk yards", and see what popped up in the area, Eddie. I have gotten moved around a lot, so you have to start beating the bushes when you get to a new area. Of course, there are often yards that are not advertised, so some of you locals may have a few secret spots not listed.

We might need to schedule a road trip some time to check out some scrap yards, after we get more details.

So, anyone ever visited Motorcycle Madness, or Reward Cycle? I think Motorcycle Madness used to be an old Honda dealership...

I do have a lot of Honda CB750 SOHC stuff from parts bikes. My prices are good and always has some eye candy in the shop too.

Hate to break it to ya but I tried going to 220 Cycle salvage down Randleman in Greensboro and they have apparently been closed for a while...It sucks for me because its really the only one close to me...Oh well

Gaston Motorcycle Shop‎
4110 South New Hope Road
Gastonia, NC 28056

I've been here once, when I bought the Buell and needed to get it inspected, Didn't have much time to look around, be he had a bit of stuff in the yard...was an old man and a younger guy doing repair work. The old man came out looked at the bike, asked if everything worked, I said yes and he passed it..lol.

Anyway, it's another to add to the list.

Noob here. I know this is an old thread, but I was surprised to not see 751 Motorsports listed. They do some shade tree bike repair, but the gold mine is the vintage metric stuff they have stored indoors. Frames, motors, suspension, wheels, tanks, fenders, covers, electrics. Some rollers. Gary Z is very knowledgeable and has been doing bikes for a LONG time. He's on NC751 south of Durham near the Lake. (919)362-1751. He's usually there Mon. thru Thurs. 1PM to 6PM, other times if you call first. No affiliation besides worked for him at Honda of Raleigh and a shop in Chapel Hill years ago. He is also my go-to guy for tires. THANKS - Stan

Yep, I think we all know about 751. He can be a bit fun to get a hold of over there.... I hear he is rebuilding his roof currently...

Pretty sure the place on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh has closed up. I went looking for it a few weekends ago and didn't have any luck. I called the number as well and it just kept on ringing, no answer.

Not sure if it's open to the public but there is a place between Camp Mckall and Fort Bragg (east of Aberdeen) that has what appears to be thousands of old bikes piled into an old lot.

Here is a swap meet for you next month. This would be a good one for the local caf crowd. Bring you spares out also!

Combustion Cycle has been a great supporter of the local MC community, so let's support them also!
