WTB - Any 250cc or less cafe base, running - SoCal, LA

I'm looking for a 250cc or less starting point for a cafe build that is running. This would be the first build for me, so I'm looking for a pretty simple motor like in the SR250, basically any single or twin. Looking to spend no more than $2000. All I can find on craigslist so far are dirt bikes. Thanks for reading!
