I recently purchased a small 3D printer for my business. It prints in ABS/PLA plastic with about a 4"x4" capacity. I use it mostly for prototyping small parts and just general messing around. I'd be down to work with anyone to 3D model/print some one off parts and get some time on the machine. The plastic is pretty rigid, and is significantly stronger in the X/Y direction (highest strength runs along the direction of the strands, as seen below).
Can also use these prints as molds for casting metals. ;D
Below is a carb support spacer I printed for the 360. First prototype so far relevant to motorcycle building. Cheers!
What kind of mill do you have? I am in the process of converting my G0704 to CNC. The mill is functioning (almost) fully at this point, so when I say that I am in the process what I really mean is that the process seemingly is never ending. I've spent so much time tuning and adjusting and then readjusting that I've only managed to make a few small parts in the last few months but I hope to be more or less done soon. Right now the enclosure is getting closed to finished which will let me turn the coolant on. Exciting stuff for big runs.
Here's a regulator housing I machined up on a test run a few weeks back. It was cut out .25" aluminum plate. I'm not super happy with it but for a test run it turned out nice enough.
Just looked st g0704 mill and I would say identical to your grizzly apart from color and voltage. I got the printer to play with steppers etc before I got the parts for the mill. I have the lathe that matches the mill too.
Nice! I've been busy with other projects but designing a switch mount/voltage gauge housing for the 360. Will post prints and 3D this week. What are y'all using for modeling, Rhino?
Y'all should try OnShape. It's free and totally browser based, meaning you can use it on any system anywhere. It was designed by the group of engineers who initially started Solidworks.
