Decided to start a new build thread on my '82 GS750T project I started four years ago because it's been in hold for a while.
Finally have a proper garage to work in and things are back on track.
Now back to the start...
$600 got me a shabby but solid Gs750t
I stripped it down in my parking garage and carted everything up into a spare room in my apartment
Ended up changing that frame hoop I installed to go for a open ended frame that ends cleanly with turn signals
Engine was cleaned, painted, and installed. The chopped trailer fender used on the rear was installed using threaded bungs that hugged the 1" frame tubes
And to hide all the electronics under the seat pan, I ran across an old junk tin box my grandpa gave me for a tool box when I was a kid, turns out under the old red paint it was a WW2 50. Cal ammo tin. Fit perfectly.
Small lightweight battery was needed
I lowered the gauges by flipping the bracket and installed the painted stock headlight... which was later smashed in a ditch when my late EX500 cafe was borrowing it...
Testing these lights, form and function done right
Here we have it after getting everything painted and all back to a roller
Progressive suspension springs were installed up front, new rear shocks
Renthal bars installed (don't think I'm sticking with these)
A view of the seat pan I fibreglassed
The headlight I'm goings with. Embracing the ugly off an 80's Honda VT500 my from had bobbed and eventually died on him.
This will be tucked more and the gauges will most likely be ditched for a small unit
This is where I'm at for now, 4-1 exhaust I'll hopefully install this week and try and get it running again.
