top 3 manufacturer/model suggestions

4 cylinder = 4 carbs, 8valves (sometimes 16), sometimes 2 cams, 4 exhaust gaskets, inlet gaskets, etc, etc. Multi cylinders have more parts = more to go wrong and higher repair costs. That is my very personal philosophy, many will disagree. But thumpers and twins, way easier to work on as I mentioned earlier.

This.

I love single cylinder bikes. Twins, sure, 4's sound great but when things go wrong, they go wrong!

I like simple twins as well but....a well tuned inline 4 cylinder bike has a way to grab you by the groin in a good way.
