Buell Firebolt project

I love the handling of the Buell but I no longer need the sport bike look. I saw this frame and had to do the project. The donor was very nice but I was able to sell some parts to fellow Buellers to freshen up their rides. I have put about 3000 miles on it since completion and it is a blast to ride. It handles a lot like the Firebolt.

I dig the visual and mechanical simplicity of the Buell and your build really nailed that. You made a beautiful bike that probably rides like it's on rails. The only thing I'd rather see, Imho, the headlight is too small. An 8" round would really set it off.

Thanks I have never been a fan of large headlights. I really wanted everything to be very small on the bike so the focus would be on the engine and suspension.

What frame is that? Is it a kit?

Looks awesome. I always liked Buell, but honestly the frame wasn't its best feature. The original Honda tank looked so good I can't believe you changed it, but the black with scallops is even better.

Yes it is a kit. You can find on Ebay. When I got mine it wasn't a kit. Just a frame and a few brackets. Turns out the brackets weren't of much use. I did like the look of the Honda tank but wanted a Monza cap and it needed a larger bung to provide enough fuel. I also wanted the flat black look.

Fantastic transformation! Looks phenomenal, while being totally rideable. Any plans for a rear fender, or is this a fair weather rig?

Thanks Supergyro. No fenders for this bike. Your right it is a fair weather ride. I am not sure how smart that is though since I live in Oregon.

That is slick, but that kit on eBay is expensive. Almost $5k shipped.

How was it to register? Did you get a MSO or did you have to treat it as a home built?

Yes it is expensive. It has gone up $1000 since I got mine. It is more of a kit now. Mine was just a frame and a few brackets. It comes with a vin and mso so no problem to register. My vin is #4 so he was still developing the kit at that point.
