1976 Puch Maxi - APuchalypse Now

Front wheel laced and so both are ready to go off for truing and to get the rubber mounted up.

I also started on the potting process for the speedo. I abandoned the idea of fitting it inside the old speedo housing. It was just a bit too small and my wife said it looked weird.

The wheels are back from the shop, so we now have a roller!

I've got a few changes to make. The bars aren't going to work without a riser and the front fender is too skinny for the fit tires I'm running. Other than that, things are looking OK.

Yeah, those low unprotected bars look cool but they'd be totally unsuitable for plowing through a crowd of zombies.

How did the potting turn out?

Not bad, actually. It was my first time.

It's not fully potted as I still need to work out a few of the other functions, but the nixies are well embedded into the cover of the enclosure and everything is (almost) crystal clear.

I like that custom designed expansion chamber;how was it for midrange torque, etc.?
I'd sure like to find a person to build me a custom 'CB' style down-pipe front headpipe for my 81' CB125S;I'm putting an XL185 engine in it and the stock front pipe won't work anymore.

Looking awesome so far, Matt. Very nice work.

Thanks, man.

Currently reworking a few things I really should have done before paint. Some lessons are hard learned, I suppose.

Front fender is not fitting over the new tire, so I've got a skinnier one on the way. Bars aren't going to work without a riser, so I've swapped back to the stock ones for now. I'll keep these bars in reserve for a later date.

In retrospect, a front fork swap would have been a good way to go.

Been getting stuff done, but slowly and have been forgetting to take pics.

New risers installed so I can use the dirt bike bars properly. Also gutted out the stock headlight and cut the reflector out of the back of the sealed beam. The lens then got epoxied into the bezel while the inside of the bucket got a quick splash of metallic paint. A 1" hole saw made room for the LED headlight which only draws 1.2 amps. Chamber also got wrapped and mounted up.

Currently working on how to get the paniers mounted. Something I definitely should have done before paint.
