CX Cafe Rat

yes, they are stock.. But what shocks will fit and are good? Found on internet that some harley and einfield shocks will fit..
I dont want to get very hard suspension also..

Don't go with Harley shocks unless you want a very firm suspension, Harleys are heavy bikes.
The easiest to do is to go here: http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/
These shocks will deffinetly get you the most bang for your buck and if you want a little rise just throw them an email.

You can get decent shocks for 80 something euro from www.wemoto.com. Just enter the model and then you can see the shocks available when you scroll down. I have the one's that cost 80€ but there are more expensive choices as well.

Ok, I think cafe season 2012 is finish for me.. The bike itself is ok but battery on another bike failed just few days after end of its warranty so I took battery from my cafe and put it into another bike. I must ride it too :D Made only 1500km on it these year, all other miles is on cafe racer :p :D Dont want to buy new battery before winter and its already end of season here too..
So I think that I share some pics from my journeys on cafe racer. I also had some action camera on it, so if somebody know some good video editing software for beginners (at video editing, not PC) let me know..
(Sorry for my bad english, havent been in England for a long time so its getting worse every day..)

I like this next pic. The bikes are so similar but also so different at same time.. differnent factories made them, some have chain some have shaft drive, V-twin and R1, R4, but they all are old and cafe style..

first bike on previous pic looks like this in night time: :)

And now my plans with bike for winter
turbo+bike3.jpg

I think I will change rear shocks, will make some electrical adjustmens, new seat and something more..
Season is closed, lets building begin :D

That Harley with the Turbo is my buddy from Pangea Speed, really cool bike. you ride with a lot of cool bike, nice work.

Finally "cafe" season started here :p
cafepuzzle2.jpg

New shocks, modified coolant system (again), new throttle grip&cable is waiting for mounting.
I made also my ordinary black helmet to look more cafe style. (blue one) Then it was ready I immediatelly scratched it with garage door and need to repaint it :D
Shocks still need adjustment, on hard setting they was so hard that I think I lost on of my kidney somewhere then was driving on a bad road :D On soft setting bike is really soft.. Coolant temp gauge, that thing on the right side, showing bullshit. sometimes it shows nothing, all the time it shows lower temp than really is.. Thats why I put oil temp gauge, it shows working temp 100 Celsium, is it ok temp for oil or too high? CX dont have oil radiator...

Aaaaand the season is over again...
It was interesting season,.. we made a lot of cafe style roadtrip"s. we had BBQ, beer & a lot of fun while driving our old cafes..
We visit "The last Dictator of Europe" home called Republic of Belorussia, discovered some good roads here, enjoed local cousine, visited some "secret" military objects and so on. Made local peoples eyes bigger than madagascar mouse lemur ones every time we stop somevhere.
~5000km on a almost hardtail cafe with old military backpack and paper map...
it Was Fun!..

At the end of season my bike desidet that it is enough for him and fell on the left side while it was staing in my garage.. so I need a new gas tank.. and becouse of that I will made some new modifications to it these winter.. plan is: new gas tank, new seat (tracker style?) new paint and so on..
Will post some update soon..

Very interesting project, it appears that you and your friends have a great spirit of fun and adventure. You are in Estonia? What is the motorcycle scene like there? The bikes you and your friends have seem pretty eclectic with Japanese and European mixed in, no Urals?

By the way your Engilsh is about as good as the average on this site, and most of us are native speakers.

Thanks to all! :p

Very interesting project, it appears that you and your friends have a great spirit of fun and adventure. You are in Estonia? What is the motorcycle scene like there? The bikes you and your friends have seem pretty eclectic with Japanese and European mixed in, no Urals?

Motorcycle scene here is a bit chaotic, sportsbikes, klassics, tourings. Thats becouse till 1991 existed evil empire and all you can get here was some russian Minsk and Voshod motorcycles. Jawa was considered as import and cost a lot, Urals were motorcycles that supposed to be used only with sidecar and was sold only to police, military and to some government facilities. it was hard to get some of them. (of course people with connections had all taht they want)
After big empire collapse and our country independence some bikers start to buy old motorcycles from European countries and ride and sell them here. it was the time when bikers knew eachother by face. First big movement was only in 2004 when economy was great and a lot of people start looking for and buying motorcycles. Becouse for 6 months of year is raining or snowing here and another time is just shitty ski season here, bikes are considered as a luxury items here, even old and cheap ones. (for non bikers of course) Thats why you must really love motorcycles if you have some here. Some rides every day, some hold it most time in garage or clubhouse.
And of course we have HD riders who "ride" their harleys at trailers behind huge camping van, to event and back, all stuff in HD logos :D sorry HD guys, its just like it is 8)
So the motorcycle scene is very young here, compared to USA but dont get it wrong, we already have some world class motorcycle builders here

Cafe movement is actually very young here, some years ago nobody knows what it is.. but we are working on that :p

Very nice CX, but too pretty to be considered a rat bike.
Yes, its not a rat in definition of a rat bike. But for me its not perfect, a bit ratty becouse I build bike in view of our weather and road conditions and everyday riding in mind, not show only motorcycle..
I like unusual style, thats why I mixed in British Smith"s spido, HD warning lights, leather battery belt and some other parts. No Ural"s parts becouse: 1. they are not durable, same as all russian mcycle parts, 2. its not exotic for us, same as Triumph are not exotic for british.

Love it and the pics! Did you have to cut the camshaft to fit the zzr fan? Thanks.

ZZR fan fits really fine, its about 1-1.5sm left to camshaft. I dont understand why some people cut it?..
also fan swich attachment is really easy also, just buy some NO temp swich with 14mm thread and made tread 11mm (measure yourself before) and replace coolant drain plug with it. wire fan and thats it! :D Better buy few fan swiches to check that engine temp you like more. Engine thermostat opens at 82 and is full open at about 85-87, air blows through the radiator so coolant is more cool at down so you dont need so hi number fan swich like you need then swich are up.

Made some short movie about our retro-style roadtrip to Belorussia past summer.

Its shot with some cheap pocket camera, so dont kick me hard ;D

Vol 3 is ready :D
Replaced some parts, made some adjustment and went to awesome mountain backroads roadtrip with friends..
Finally Im happy with result so CX will stay as it is now.. well.. I hope so... :D
