Hey forum!

i´m currently working on my new epoxy seat for my little RD jumper.

since these bikes have a big big booty in wanted to invest in a lighter and more good looking way of seat design.

i want to integrate TWO LED STRIPS tail as rear lights.they come with 3 cables RED,BLACK AND WHITE.

the original loom had 3 cables yellow blue and black, i had to cut of the clips of yellow and blue cuz they were totally rusted.

How do i connect the new TWO LED STRIPS to the original loom....can i just wire the new strips with Y type of connectors or is there something i should be aware of?

furthermore:i bought a new led license plate light,where is this normally connected?isn´t it connected to the backlight like my rear light setup?

SORRY for being a noob.

thanks in advance! 8)

When you get the wiring diagram up, I can tell you exactly how to wire it. If I recall correctly, black=ground, blue=running light, and yellow=brake light on the OEM harness. The LED lights should be: black-ground, white-running light, red-brake light. You can test the led wiring with a 9v battery if you have one, or hold the wire to the bikes battery if it's juiced up.
You'll wire the license plate light into the running light circuit. That way it'll be on while the lights are on.

Yup, you should wire black/black, white/blue, red/yellow.
For the plate light, you should wire black/black and red/blue.

Make sense?
If not, I can draw a diagram for ya ;)

a diagram would be great i think i´m too stupid for this ;-)

how would you connect the cables?is there something like a Y piece to connect them??

tha nks so much!!!!

Inexperience doesn't equal stupid ;)

Eastern Beaver makes all the terminals you'll ever need. I prefer the Bullet style connectors, and they have them in double, as well as triple connectors.

Here's a completely amateur wiring diagram...

If anyone who is better at drawing such diagrams wants to improve on mine... feel free to do so ;)

No problem ;)

Let me know how it works out.

hey redbird!!!

it worked!!!!i´m soooo happy!

thank you so much!

can i ask you another question:i cant get the blinkers to work....

is it possible that i first need to install the front blinkers and earth them to the bucket and then install the rear ones?

installed a new LED relais (3 points) and the led blinkers wont work...

cables from the loom to the rear blinkers are BLACK 2x,BROWN and GREEN

they wont even light up when i use the blinker switch...but i checked them on the battery they work...

help!

The order in which they're connected doesn't matter.
The wiring from your loom is: Blackx2=grounds, Green=right blinker, Brown=left blinker.

The relay you bought, was it made to replace your original?
Just because it's a three pin unit doesn't mean it'll "plug and play". Are there markings on the relay by the pins? If so, post a pic of the markings.

the RD has two separate blinker indicators on the panel so i guess there neednt to be anymore modifications....
thanks for hooking me up!

I used this blinker module and really like it. It's smaller than a standard module and is potted so it should be good and reliable. I just cut the plug off and installed bullet connectors on it.

Ok Ryan...
Sadly, that relay won't work for you at all. The terminals on it are:
49=Battery power
49a=Load (to your signals)
31=Ground
That is a grounded relay, and the bike isn't set up that way.

What you need is a relay where the third pin is for the instrument panel lights, and not a ground.
Like this:

P=Pilot (your instrument lights)
+=12v in (from battery)
L=Load (to your signals)

If you go here... http://www.superbrightleds.com/search/led-products/flasher/
and look at the FL3-RED flasher relay, it should "plug and play" for you ;)

hey redbird!

thank you so much for walking me trough all this!youre a true hero!

there might be 1 or 2 other questions in the next days coming up...hope you dont mind.

i will try to go to my local moto electrics dealer to ge that kind of relais.thanky you!!

Ryan, yes that's the one ;)
And bring on the questions. I'll answer if I'm able :)

SavOr, can't open it on my phone. But YOU are a hero!
My German sucks :p

Finally opened the link...
Well fuck me runnin!!!
The turnsignals are self cancelling?!
I was wondering why it needed the Pilot output, when it has two indicators on the dash.
