1972 CB250 Brat Tracker FINISHED!

Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

hip said:
Nevergrew, I will need to blue slip it.
I'll have to fab up some sort of front fender for it.
Hopefully they aren't too picky with the tires and rear fender.

I reckon you'll be right with the tyres although your rear guard and light are similar to mine and from what people have told me, it'll be too short, which sux because we'll need a replacement one for blue and future pink slips. I have thought about taking it like that and seeing what they say. Other requirements are chain guard, mirrors and horn.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

It will all depend on the person certifying it.
Also need a reflector on the rear.
You can get away with 1 mirror on a pre 1975 bike.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

hmm thought it would take me longer to find that

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Had the head rebuilt.
The piston bores were still in good condition so I just chucked some fresh gaskets in.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Engine is all assembled now and painted.
It's still drying so I'll get some photos later.

I also decided that I'm running a bottom mount headlight, so I designed a bracket in CAD that I'm getting laser cut.
Also drew up some extended fender brackets to raise the front fender to suit the bigger tire.

If anyone else wants some, let me know as I can get more cut out.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

The headlight arrived today, unfortunately with a big crack in the lens!

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

looks really good man! Is it on a 6v?

If so, do you mind my asking where you sourced the tail light?
Also, you use the end cut of the rear fender, is that right?

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

HRB, no its running 12V.
The taillight is from Dime City Cycles.
You're right, the fender is just the end cut-off with new lowered mounts.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Fark! Any easy way to get the engine in without scratching the frame?!

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Thanks Deep Water, I'll give it a go. Got an extra set of hands to help out today too.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

For the Tapered Bearing Conversion, can you walk us through the process of what measurements you needed and who you ordered from (all balls?).

I am jumping back into a CL175 build and want to convert the bearing as the current balls are in real bad shape.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

CompleteHavoc,
I got mine from ebay, they were advertised as CB250 bearing kit.

All balls has a search function on their website which shows you the right kit.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Failing that, there are 3 basic measurements for each bearing (top and bottom). Outer diameter, inner diameter and width/height.
Wrong link before too....

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Making good progress lately.
Engine is in.
Tank is at the blasters, and will be ready tomorrow.
Header pipes are off getting ceramic coated.
Started shaping the seat, but want to get the tank back to check the lines.
My switch housings arrived and I fitted some switches.
Moving into my first house next week which has a nice little workshop setup. Looking forward to that!

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Nice bike. What do you have covering the upper forks? Looks like some sort of cover or am I mistaken? My fork uppers are rusted to shit so I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

rad switches, whats the details on those little guys? go any back pics?

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Love'n fat balloon tires on these twins I keep seeing more of. Bike is coming along nicely.

Re: Gentlemen's CB250 Brat Tracker

Very nice build my man, I like it a lot. I noticed on your seat pan that you have axles welded on to it? Did you also weld brackets on to the frame so you can slide the axles thru the brackets and put nuts on the axles to mount the seat? Im also interested in those toggle switches, where'd ya find those? Again nice bike
