New guy with a KZ

Hi all,

Been wanting to build a cafe since I was a kid. My first bike was a factory pseudo-cafe GS450S that I managed to completely destroy like you would expect from any dumb teenager.

Fast forward a few decades and a buddy offers up a dirty but running and mostly complete '78 KZ400 with 3900 miles. So of course I'm going to sell off all those nice factory parts and make it impractical and uncomfortable. My daughter says I'm having a midlife crisis and my wife doesn't care as long as I finish remodeling the upstairs bathroom first....so the question is, how many parts can I buy and how much work can I get done before she notices I haven't finished grouting the shower?

Welcome!

The 400 is a nice little twin. good lump, good bones.

As for balance between motorcycles and every other aspect of life...

We may not be the best example of balance around here!

Again, welcome!
