They cleaned up nice - did you have to replace any gaskets?  Gotta love that carb cleaner - until it gets in paper cuts.  That stings like a mother....

Or in the eyes when it comes out of the other holes in the carb LOL

Yes I will have to replace the gaskets. The two carbs that had the lacquer in the bowls were glued on pretty tight. They tore or I would've thrown them right back on just to listen to it run! *side note: the slides moved so freely when I picked it up I thought thing might run...with fresh gas and some starting fluid it did ;) not running well but all four pipes were getting hot!

Ha ha I've never noticed that!  This house was built in the mid 70's just like these bikes. so I was at the triumph dealer today and the owners and I got to talking and they had this sitting in the bushes in the woods at the property they just bought. Well they gave it to me! It's motor is locked up tighter than a nuns c_^+ but it has a set of wheels, front brake, and all kinds of other goodies.

That sissy bar is righteous!! So my girlfriend comes with me just about always when I'm looking at bikes, selling them, whatever right. Well I use the term "molested" to describe the state of bikes that I've come across during my obsession. So when I came across this 550 I was so stoked because it was very un-molested. Well this morning I was out in the garage stripping the frame for paint, mind you she hasn't seen it since we brought it home and it was in one piece...she called me a molester!!  I said baby these are good touches!
