Help Identifying This Bike...

Been Around the Block
Picked this up the other day from a friend. I originally thought it was a 76-80 RM 250, but now I'm not so certain, but I can't say for certain since the guy cut the steering head off. And before anyone asks or makes the implication, I don't think it's stolen, at least not by him at any rate. I've known the guy for some time, and I believe he took it as payment for some welding work he did.
Anyway, I've not checked to see if there are numbers on the case yet. It sat inside his conex box for the past five years, but kicks over, has compression and all the wiring is there. The plan is to find a titled street frame and transplant the engine into that and turn it into sort of a street tracker/supermoto style build.

A little bit a research leads me to believe this is a TS250 Savage. Unsure of which year though. Sound about right?

Don’t know if you visited this site yet, but i found a wealth of info when i repaired my tc185.

Here are the model years for the Savage;

http://www.suzukicycles.org/TS-TC-series/TS250.shtml

The exhaust looks to be from 73-75 but there should be a serial number on the engine, unless it has been filed off.

I checked around the cylinder base where I see casting marks for displacement and manufacturer, but no numbers anywhere. Do you have any idea where the numbers might be? And I don't see any filing marks to indicate obfuscation of numbers.

I got the bike from an old retired Navy Senior Chief. I don't think this bike is hot unless he took possession of an already stolen bike, in which case I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have sold it to me.

On my tc the number was on the cases, near where the clutch cable goes in.

It looks it would be right where that little plate is screwed to the cases.

Found it. Looks like I have a 1973 TS250K. Thank you.
