1981 GS750E (GSX750E) Dented Cafe Racer ( Currently doing GSX-R USD conversion)

Pretty happy with the decision to powdercoat the rearsets gloss black :)
I haven't finished the left footpeg yet, but the season is getting close to the end and I want to get the bike on the road, so I'll go with the black nylon prototype for now ;)

Great job Lars. I love how you've kept the rat bike ethos but made the bike mechanically and electrically sound.

The handlebar controls I bought came with one momentary and two laching buttons. I knew this in advance, but I bought them anyway because the housing are good quality and I have some spare M12 momentary steel buttons. What I didn't know was that they were non standard threads and I don't have a tap that fits. Thankfully they came with some low profile nuts and the housing have just enough room for them to fit.

There's no room for the ignition-lock on the top triple so I'll have to place it somewhere else.
Anyone have a suggestion? Pictures are welcome :)

I went with an m-lock down under the seat. Then made up a plate with a hole in it attached to the top triple tree to fit a disc lock to lock the steering...
That said, after watching the lockpicking lawyer channel on youtube Im starting to think that was a waste of time :)

Try fabricating a simple bracket to place it on the left side below the tank at the front down tube. Back in the sixties/seventies Honda put the main switch there. You may even be able to find say a CB160 switch and bracket to mount there.

On the PhatTrakka, I made a wedge shaped aluminum box and mounted it in that gap above the front of the motor and have the ignition switch there.

Cool bikes guys! I have the M-unit blue, so I can use my phone to unlock the bike. The under tank mount seems good then. The Honda-bracket seems like a good solution, teazer :)

wozza, how do you like the Hel brake lines? Because of the clipons the original length lines I have are too long and I need to order a shorter one for the one connected to the master.

They are a good buy, the difference between the old stock hose and the hel one was very noticeable, price was the best I could find for ADR approved lines...and they look cool :)

Heatshrink soldering is an extreme timesaver (at least for me who hasn't used a soldering iron in ages).

Some people don't recommend soldering connections on bikes because the connection will not flex and some wires, such as where they pass around the forks, need to flex. If you do this on a section where there is no wire movement then I think it should be ok.
