Van project / Bus project Page 2 & now camper trailer ;)

Northern Suburbs, Melbourne Victoria, Australia
Hey all, thought I'd add the van that my wife and did up together, storey with the van starts with me moving into my first flat in Australia in 2001, found this van becoming part of the vine fence in the back yard, asked the flatmates about it and it used to belong to a previous flatmate who they were still in touch with. So little time later The guy gives me a key and signs it over for free happy to see someone doing something with it. so after removing it from the fence and bit of investigating turns out the only real issues with it are the clutch drive plate and the tyres, replaced them and drove it around for a couple of years. by this time I was dating my now wife and we decided to clean up the van for her to get around in so with no mechanicals requiring repair it was pretty straight forward so here are the pics which speak for them selves.

so after we got it back to metal, we gave it a good clean before i primed it ready for top coating, i had a fiend who was a painter so we were able to get it into his paint booth for a proper finish

Re: the van remake project/ the bus remake project Pg 2

Thanks for all your comments guy's I'm glad you like the little pink terror (lol) yes I am lucky that my Wife likes to get involved with these
projects. It is a great way of us spending some meaningful time together! At first I wondered if she got it, cause she would say can't we just get a new one LOL, but now she gets it!

Anyway since you liked the Van build I thought I would carry it on with our next project which upsized to a minibus and rather than start a new thread I will add it to this so here you go.

Re: the van remake project/ the bus remake project Pg 2

So here we go again this time the subject is Mazda t3500, I wanted this model because not only does it have the motorised side door but also 2 front doors, heaps better access. It took a couple of years of looking but I finally found one with the right mileage and owner history (Christian Children School then Retirement village) to we picked her up having the seats already removed (time/effort saver) no rust, straight and ready for some love! so here are some pic's of how she started, cheers Andy.

Re: the van remake project/ the bus remake project Pg 2

So the first thing I needed to check when I got it home was the floor since their made out of Plywood! So what did I find all in all not to bad but a couple of rotten spots and only 8mm thick plus it looked like a patch work of left overs so it had to be replaced with a 12mm thick deal.. one of those things were now I know it's good!
