We started building a 1973 GT550 triple 2 stroke. Our goal is to have a street and track capable beast of a bike. The longest part so far is waiting on parts

we are only 3-4 hours into it... I'm hoping it will be complete by july 7th for mid ohio vintage days weekend

Cool, not sure I'm getting to Mid-O this year but it's a great event. Good luck. if that is 3-4 hours work then you only need 2-3 more and it will be done LOL.

GT550 is a fun bike. Did you replace the crank seals and port it or just paint it? They don't make a lot of HP stock but there's potential to make some. What class can that run in at Mid O? or are you thinking track days rather than race days?

I like that fuel tank paint job.

These bikes are a bit heavy but I always thought that if you dumped the electric start (a waste for a 2-stroke), go to 3 chambers instead of the silly 4 mufflers and eliminate the battery or go to a lightweight one, the bike wouldn't be so bad. Plus the fenders, tail light and signals are heavy too. The chambers on my GT750 knocked off 30lbs, yours would not be that far off from that.

I want to watch this build!
