Jimmer's Yamaha Blaster 217cc bike

jimmer

Coast to Coast
I started with my 1978 XS500 4-stroke twin,a destroyed '92 Yamaha Blaster 200 quad, and a 1989 YZ250 roller chassis.Long story short, the 8 valve lump has been replaced by the 2 stroke, single cylinder, 6 speed,YZ suspension/wheels/brakes swapped out, different body work- fenders[Acerbis].I completely went through the engine adding a 4mm stroker crank, new seals, bearings,Wiseco forged clutch basket and 1mm over piston, ported cylinder with remachined squish band head,VForce 4 carbon fiber reeds, billet intake manifold,36mm TM Mikuni,K&N filter inside an airbox, full charging system with Ballistic battery, full lights/signals,TrailTech Vapor digital dash, JT sprockets and o-ring chain,Shinko DOT trials gumballs. Whew, that was a long run on sentence! Still need a few things, perhaps an exhaust system would help. I started this the end of Octoberish.Hopefully this puppy will run long and strong!!!

I love those air cooled Yamaha 200s! Cool!

Want more vintage alloy number plate! Maybe with rectangular headlight...?

Getting close on the Blaster bike! 4 gallon tank is empty, both tool bags are packed full,no expansion chamber, overkill electrical system, steel sprockets,o-ring chain. Front weighs 110 lbs, rear 127.5 lbs. Once I get my exhaust it will be time to fuel, and sort it out.

The 500 went to Canada. I shipped parts all over the USA,England,Australia, more stuff to Canada. It was a fantastic motor, and alot of fun. I just was ready for a change. Thanks for the compliments.

Cool, not real familiar with that setup, but I would of liked to try it out in a light framed street tracker. is it a stroker or a rev motor? gonna have to dig some looks compact and clean.

I finally cancelled my Jemco pipe order that I waited on for over 3 months and never got.My buddy Bob and I found a simple solution right in his pipe stockpile. Can any one guess what this exhaust is?? I mounted the pipe today and put 2 miles on it in the neighborhood. So far I love it.Pretty quiet too.My 44 tooth steel sprocket is coming off tomorrow and the original 41 tooth alloy and shortened chain will be put back on.I got on it a little bit once and it felt strong. :) Final weight is 254.5 lbs with 3 gallons of fuel, and that's with the heavier drive train.

40 miles and 1 hour 45 minutes run time on it so far.Jetting is mostly dialed in and it is fun to ride.I have some much needed taller gearing on the way.

Is it the pic or the way u have the rear shocks but looks low in back ?

Dread-The front sits high,I have already shortened the YZ front end at least 3 1/2" and can't go higher in the rear due to chain clearance on swingarm.I know what you mean though. Justin, headlight is long gone, sorry.

Nice! RD expansion chamber?

I see that working well for the street side of the deal, but a huge loss in ground clearance for the dual sport side of things. performance should be about spot on.

Pipe is DG brand for an RD350. Left side pipe will work just as well, clearing the chain as a bonus.

Haven't checked in for awhile. The Blaster bike has been accumulating mileage.Lots of fun running around on this stroker.
