Cb250rs cafe

Re: Cb250rs cafe project revisited

Ok so I picked up my new Motorcycle work tabke tonight and i'm stoked with it I slid the cafe racer onto it as soon as I got home and I think I can feel some motivation coming on Also I picked up 3 more boards like I used for my bench tops and i'll make large single doors for my work benches out of them once I cut them to fit between the posts. Also I think now I should intall the 2x5' fluro lights for the lifter work area

Re: Cb250rs cafe project revisited

great work thus far!! that stand will save your back for sure. Are you going to make your own seat & get it upholstered?

Im interested in how you set up the speedo, indicators & headlight. Did the original headlight bracket have the indicator bolted on?

ive got an 81 xl250 running 6v and its the main area I'm going to need help with, electrics arrg.

Thanks nixon, yeah i've made a set pan which i'll have upholstered in black leather :) I used after market headlight mounts and fitted the Indicators to them, I also used a set to custom mount the mini speed & tach :)

Re: Cb250rs cafe project

Right then, The wife picked the tail light from the 2 I had for it and I think it's gonna look good. It has a cast alloy base with a plate holder and the light has a nice chrome bezel to finish, What do you think?

Re: Cb250rs cafe project

Huzzah :D I finally found the sump plug ;D I also pulled out the original choke cable which i'm going to reuse but relocate where you operate it from to under the battery box. I have the front chain ring cover plate which needs to be reformed (its nylon) and polished, still I need to get a chain before I need it ::)

Re: Cb250rs cafe project

Man, that rear fender is the shit.

Glad to see progress continues! Looks like you're getting pretty close.

Re: Cb250rs cafe project

That rear fender is the shit, love the waffle pattern and the tail is just right.

If I can be so bold .....I'd trade out the "filler" Socket Screws with stainless Button Heads....I think would be a "Smoother" look

That light really suits the back end and fender shape.

Cheers M, yeah I got real lucky with the base :) It really does follow the fender like it was made for it ;D

Yes you can ;) your right those ones do stand out to much, I think some stainless button's would be perfect 8)

Re: Cb250rs cafe project

Made up the bracket to mount the choke tonight which bolts on to the back of the battery box, I bent it so that the cable end wouldn't stick out the other side to far and so when the filter is on the carb you'll still be able to get to it. I had to put the flat edge on the mounting hole so it wouldn't turn (bit of filing with small round and flat files fix that up) came up good just needs to be painted now :D

Cb250rs cafe project

Coming along nicely Andy. Did you ride the bike before the rebuild? I rode my RS just yesterday for the first time in mock up and was very impressed with the little single 250.

Keep up the good work man

Re: Cb250rs cafe project "IT'S ALIVE"

So today while I was at the bike shop finalizing the new bike paperwork ;D I picked up a new battery and chain 8) As soon as I got home I slipped them both on ;D It was then I thought "well why don't you start it?" So I fuelled it, oiled it and gave it a kick or 3or 10  It was then that I remembered I needed to rebuild the carb :( Well I rebuilt it in about 30min and strapped it back in, 4 kicks and she started and idled perfectly ;D anyway by now it was 9pm (on a school night) so I shut her off and when I get home from work tomorrow i'll give her another go and maybe even a little ride in the court  ;D

Note: When I get the seat covered, i'll get him to make a battery pouch to match ;D
