Good on ya for making your own seat bud. Looking good. Its a good idea to glass some support into the seat base. Adds a little weight, but make a much stiffer and stronger seat.

I dont get what you are trying to say...i intend on making a pan out of wood...maybe 3/4 inch thick... for support.

I like the pipes

Thanks Louie,
other guys have been saying they dont go with the "flow" of the bike... but i am begining to like them... I was thinking of doing a slash cut but idk now...

Re: Blake's CB350 (Glassing Seat....WITH PICS + PIPES + VIDEO)

Take some flat stock. Drill holes in it. Lay it on the bottom of the seat, lengthwise. Pour some resin over it. Lay glass on top. Put a couple layers of glass over it and make sure the resin gets in the holes. Its thinner and stronger than wood.

Re: Blake's CB350 (Glassing Seat....WITH PICS + PIPES + VIDEO)

What is flat stock my man?

sorry, im still learning how to do this thing. :) Thanks for the help though Von.

Re: Blake's CB350 (Glassing Seat....WITH PICS + PIPES + VIDEO)

Flat stock is a piece of metal. 1/8" thick, inch or so wide would work. I like the pipes too. I really have an aversion to mufflers. IMO most mufflers are way oversized and look dorky as hell. Last muffler I put on a bike I made out of a stainless steel water bottle and stuffed with glass. The seat has nice lines to it too. Nice work

Thank you very much Reinhard.

I might slash cut my pipes... but indeed i hate the reverse megaphone mufflers

First of all for my seat pan i tryed drilling holes out...and much to my failure the drill was getting EXTREMELY too hot for me to continue.. i think the metal was tooo thick.

I stopped with that piece of metal through it out and got a scrap hood out of my back yard we were gonna chuck anyways...we cut out a piece of metal from it...took it too the brake and then bent it to fit into my first to layers of fiberglassing.

100_2567.jpg

reinforced the inside of my seat with another 2 layers...this time using mat instead of cloth.
100_2568.jpg

grinded out a spot to bondo in later...for the rivets to attach the structure plate inside the seat..
100_2569.jpg
put 2 sets of 2 small rivets then i put 2 BIG rivets with screw holes that i can attach it to the frame with.

Re: CB350 by Blake (NEW PICS!!!!!)

For the paint, I'm going to urge you away from the black on black on black on black on black... I love black myself, but so many people overdo it. It's easy to black everything out; come up with some interesting, appealing color combinations and make it stand out!

That being said, it's your bike, do what will make you happy. That's just my more-or-less insignificant opinion. :)
