Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a 550 project bike. The previous owner started tearing the bike apart and literally just threw parts and bolts in a bucket making no effort to label and organize them. Im currently trying to sort out what I need, and what I want to sell.

The engines top end was torn apart when I received it, so I figured Id crack open the bottom end and take a look. The odometer on the bike says it had 27k miles on it, and the tag was last stickered in 1999. I popped the bottom end open and everything looks way better than I assumed it would.

You guys take a look and tell me what you think? Ive build several Honda and Nissan car engines, but never a motorcycle engine. I plan on punching it out to a 600cc and adding a cam of some sort.

Shameless plug if anyone needs parts ;D : https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/mpo/5806658748.html

i suggest going over with some plastigage and torquing it up to check oil clearance. needs a thotough clean, but pretty!

Kind of hard to not replace them since I'm this far in. Im Most intimidated by reassembling the transmission portion of this more so than the engine :-\

The transmissions in these things are pretty simple - they look ridiculous but more or less only go together one way and there's plenty of reading material out there. Search our site and you'll find PDF's for the Honda Service Manual and CB550F parts manual which should be 99% accurate for yours.

Ive been through the manual a couple times just speed reading for now. Im going to focus on cleaning this thing up and not loosing anything for now, re assembly is a ways off.
