Steampunk + Motorcycle

Some local bama boys built this....it's called the "flatcracker". It reminds me of the steampunk style.

LOve the details on that thing Kiley. Two things I'd change. Clutch handle is too new and maybe the wheel colors. Other than that I love it. I'm really digging that headlight bracket! I've been looking for awhile now and that would be perfect on my build. Only I no longer have both mounts on my tree :(

This is from the same guys. I dig the tank brace and the fuel gauge.

Agreed. I'm on idea overload. That is some great stuff Kiley!

Who is the builder for the riveted headlight you posted Troy?

Check the bobber inspiration thread

That stuff is hot.

I have to figure how to work this in.

Maybe backlit lexan. Looks like the blue flames of a torch.

I posted that my XS800 was closer to steampunk than bratstyle on 6th Dec. 8)
I havent been able to do much to it last few weeks though. :(
Its going to be 'functional' rather than gears and things added on it which don't 'do' anything

Epic fail IMHO, Im not trying to be a huge doucher here but I hate the drop seat/frame thingy. The details are great the craftsman ship is right on but the overall look I cant stand.

The build looks cool PJ. I have to agree with not strapping on a bunch of dead weight. I will have some gears and the gear logo I'm working on, but I want everything to be functional. The coolest builds that are out there are stylized without being plain silly looking. I just checked out your build, and it is as impressive a start as I would have expected. Cannot wait to see how it goes.

It seems we are both leaning toward the dieselpunk vein. I like the dark 30's industrial aesthetic more than the Victorian 'romance' of wood and brass. I'm hoping to go more Batmobile as opposed to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

haha. as soon as I read "steampunk" and "silly looking" I was reminded of this bike I saw a while ago.
it uses an electric motor and you can tell the guy put a lot of work into it. on the other hand, it's got a propane tank hooked up for special effects. i still can't decide if that's awesome or ridiculous.

I think "engine turning" or "swirling" could go with the theme. You might be able to work it in somewhere.I did this speedo bracket with some valve lapping compound and a wooden dowell on the drill press. Makes a vintage/classy touch.

You are right I'm not sure I'd ride it but I think it would be cool as a piece of art. Now this on the other hand is bad ass http://steampunkworkshop.com/keyboard.shtml
Dude went through a lot to get to the final product.

aw man i came in late on this convo! i looooove anything steampunk!

your bike is gonna be killer, its just funny though..

cafe racer - a stripped down bike with weight taken off to be as simple and fast as possible.
steampunk - over done elaborate gadgets with so many brass gears and switches and stained wood that do nothing really.

but im all for your steampunk bike!

no copper tubing, but Brad Pitts Shinya Kimura Duc. is pretty punk.

Cool bike. I forgot about that one.

One another note I built a stainless loop for my wood stove. Heats all my hot water during the winter. Dropped my electric bill way down. Kinda steam punk??

Anyhow, I want to add a copper storage tank above the stove like this:
