Steampunk + Motorcycle

One another note I built a stainless loop for my wood stove. Heats all my hot water during the winter. Dropped my electric bill way down. Kinda steam punk??

Anyhow, I want to add a copper storage tank above the stove like this:

this is where I got the tank photo. This guy has become my hero. check out his house

TB, I'm sure you don't need the warning, but a large tank hooked up to a wood stove can turn into a really huge bomb without the proper safety valves. Please be careful and make sure your homeowners insurance will not be voided by such a device.

big bomb indeed. Yep in fact it is already hooked up to my hot water tank. Notice the tp valve right at the stove and it has one on the tank as well. Both TP valves are vented outside. It is also an open system meaning that if a tp valve opens releasing pressure fresh water enters the system. One thing that gets missed when guys try this is the fittings at the stove can not be sweated. Notice the threaded brass elbows. The copper needs that little bit of thermal break before the soldering. I've seen sweated pipes at the stove have the solder melt out and under high pressue that gets pretty ugly. This system is just a heat exchanger like inside of a boiler. Properly done it works fantastic. However, done wrong it is like a bomb like you said. On the show MythBusters they removed a hotwater's tp valve and shot the damn thing through two stories and 300' in the air. Not something to mess around with.
Thanks for the heads up though.

I saw that MB, that water heater explosion was WAY beyond what I was expecting. They disabled the thermostats too IIRC. It's funny this has come up because I have been scheming a plan to put an old dirtbike radiator in the return of my central heat system and plumb it to a tank in my fireplace. I have read a lot about wood fired heat exchanges in the last 24 hours.

Sorry to hijack this thread.

Going to add a couple more bikes, while not 100% steampunk i think that parts of them could be taken from

first 2 bikes are from Iron Gatsby http://irongatsby.com/
The 1st bike using a rotary engine

and the 3rd bike is from Sapka Muvek hes got some cool stuff, http:www.sapkamuvek.hu
automatic transmission. And there is no kick or center stand. An air compressor and shock raises the bike for riding.

If anyone wants the articles scanned in let me know and I'll post them.

That actually has very dieselpunk lines. Resembles 40's art deco train engine. I like the round front and star wars angled rear. Good find.

Hey Cresent, that is actually Hoofhearted's ride. I love that thing.
