Bonneville Salt Flats Bub Run 2009

Oak

Old Fekker
This event was the first part of the Bike Fest Week in UT. We went out a week ago Sunday. The Bike Fest ended with the VintageGP and Concours (see other thread). Here's some pics:

There's something different about this bike. The guy rode off on it after I snapped these:

Very nice pics.. 2 questions though...
1. was this the same week that Paul aka lilbeast & Mike went to?

2. Would that salt taste good on french fries? ;D

1) Different week. This is bikes only despite the Corvette in the background of the one pic. They have runs out there all through August, September and October. This link lists the major events: http://www.bonnevilleracing.com/ Follow the other links listed for info on each event. There are times in between the dates listed when there are ohter people who are making record runs as well (most notably the jet engine stuff is private runs only usually). The event that Paul and Mike went to was Speedweek by the Southern Cal Timing Assoc. These pics are from the BUB event.

2) It's pretty pure beyond what's blown in or driven over it. You can taste it on your lips after being on it. These days the salt is pumped back onto the flats after being processed by a mine located just across the interstate from the raceway.
