Yamaha R1 with quad slashcut undertail pipes, if noone has mentioned, is probably the meanest sounding naturally aspirated inline 4 I have ever heard.

The D&D 4-into-2 headers sound VERY 2-strokey. Poppity-pop, but angry.
 
J cammed KZ1000 with V and H pipe with baffle removed at about 6000 rpm in 3rd. A nice explosion that u know is only going to get better.bj

i consider myself very to lucky have been there a witness and to still in my head hear the wail of that during morning practice at laguna ,whilst fast freddie put it through its paces.as the day warmed and more machines and the races started it only became a bit less haunting .i have never yet heard anytning so godamned AWSOME as that there deal ..top fuel beets it on many ways but then wail of that thing a crackling, kinda crinkling vortex-ish metalic ,speed-ripping kevlar fabric,banshee screem ...is so distink-dive like a cross breed sound of a 2stroke what ass raped a 4 stroke,

i was there at laguna when freddie ran it, as far as i know it was the only time it was ever raced in a non gp with freddie and the only time it ever raced in the usa
here i googled proof that it did indeed race in the usa ,you will have to take me at my word that i was there ....or not
